Every quilt carries evidence of when and how it was made, if you know where to look. A faded purple print. A block pattern that only shows up in a certain decade. A dye that browns in a very specific way. Telltale Textiles digs into these details one at a time, the kind of clues an average person can actually spot on their own quilt, no lab equipment required.
This series covers a lot of ground on purpose. Some entries are about color and dye chemistry. Others are about prints and fabric styles, block patterns and naming trends, or how quilting fashions shifted decade by decade. All of it points back to the same goal: helping you look at an old quilt and read its history.
